About The Game Empty About The Game

Post  druf Thu Jul 21, 2011 4:16 pm

The original Final Fantasy had 6 characters each with their own class. They were: Warrior, Monk, Thief, Red Mage, White Mage, and Black Mage.
For those living under a rock here is what each one could do:

Warrior- A specialist in heavy weapons and armor who can withstand tremendous amounts of punishment by far the best tank of any game. Can become the Knight later in the game, who is able to use the most powerful weapons and some White Magic spells can sit through most fights taking 1 damage at a time. Great Tank.

Monk- A martial arts expert who is best left fighting empty-handed, but may also wield nunchaku, and the most basic of staves. Does tremendous amounts of damage in combat, but cannot wear heavy armor. Can become the Master later in the game which doesn't seem to do much...great character nonetheless

Thief- A considerably weaker Fighter with fewer weapons and armor skills but greater agility. This class can still do high damage thanks to its high hit count. Later in the game, the Thief can be upgraded to the Ninja class. Much better in the remakes, useless in the original.

White Mage- A specialist in White Magic. Not a good fighter. Becomes white wizard later. Your basic Healer

Black Mage- A specialist in Black Magic, terrible psychical damage, somewhat better than white mage though, becomes black wizard can do serious damage with spells

Red Mage -A little bit of everything character, able to use most but not all of both White and Black Magic, and possessing fighting abilities similar to but not quite as good as the Fighter. Becomes the Red Wizard later in the game. Gets worse as game goes on.

Gameplay- Like all final fantasy's 1-9 There is a world map which allows players to wander to where they want to go, over where they need to go. There is a turn based system with the ability to fight, cast, or flee. A player gains exp and gil (money) throughout the game.
Oddly enough there are no save points or phoenix downs. You must revive at a clinic (in most towns) and save in an inn, or tent like object on the world map.
